Food is our common ground, a universal experience.
-James Beard (1903-1985) – an American chef and food writer
Food is one of the cornerstones of a culture. One of the reasons we travel is to learn about other people, other cultures and ways of living. Indigo Seychelles is a family business, run by a brother and sister who believe that the visitors to our country deserve a higher quality of service. In their childhood home, food was not just something they did, it was something they enjoyed. Meal times were eagerly awaited and they both learnt to cook at a young age. Now they live in different homes, but if there is one thing both homes have in common is that the kitchen is a sacred place! It is where they gather to talk, to laugh, to create a meal for the family. A tasty meal using Seychelles spices and following recipes handed to them by their parents. This is why eating times on our Bespoke excursions are also sacred moments, where we share our culture with you, when we literally give you a taste of paradise. The Seychelles cuisine is varied as it has been influenced by the cuisine of three continents.
We cater for people with different dietary requirements, so please do not hesitate to let us know if you have some special requests.
We currently offer 4 meal options:
This is a barbecue prepared and served on land or the boat. We are the cooks and we ensure that you get to try a bit of the Seychelles “grilled” cuisine. Our barbecue typically includes fish, meat and/or sausages, salads as well as rice and bread. For vegetarians, we offer vegetable curries, vegetable sauté and lentils. The food we serve depends on what is available at the moment so we will not always adhere strictly to the dishes mentioned here.
This is a a lighter meal containing salads, bread and fruit. We speak to you to see which options you would prefer.
This option is available to clients visiting Praslin or La Digue. We normally recommend and work with restaurants offering typical creole food but should you wish to try something a bit more international, we will try to fit it in your itinerary. Please be aware that this is not always possible.
This is something typical in Seychelles. A take away business will normally have a variety of different meals on offer: from chicken and chips to fish curry. It is a less costly option but is also only available on Praslin and La Digue. Customers who choose this option are taken to the take away shop and get to make their choices themselves.
